American codling (Laemonema goodebeanorum)

Description: This codling is related to the more well-known shallow-water cod, an incredibly popular food fish. Despite its relation, the American codling isn’t directly targeted by the commercial fishing seafood industry. It rarely grows to be larger than a foot long and lives on deep sandy bottom.
